Meet Our Team
Sandy & Brittany BatesI started Paws n’ Critters with my daughter, Brittany, because we wanted to create a business that we both share a passion for and enjoy! We have been animal lovers/enthusiasts for years and decided to start a pet and home sitting business. We enjoy caring for your pets and understand the great need for this within our community. Your pets are our extended family and we care for your pets and home as if it were our own!
Brittany was a volunteer for the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. Brittany volunteers her time in the Pet VIP program and helping out at the Pawsh Stores. She enjoys contributing her time to animals when she isn’t sitting Paws n’ Critters customers!
Brittany also volunteered at the Nanini Library for the “read to a pet” day every Tuesday @ 3:30pm with Dusty.
Dusty retired as a Pet VIP and the following year he went to doggie heaven. He will be in the memory of many of the children that read to him. He is on our Memory Page. He will be missed by everyone.
My background includes military, insurance, financial and business services.
We began our business in August 2009, and we are now servicing over 600 active customers city-wide. We are still servicing our very first customer and have grown to become very attached to all of our pets that we watch. As our business grows, so does our staff.
We believe in continuing education and certification and I have obtained my PetTech Instructor Certification in December 2013 and train all staff for certification of Pet CPR & First Aid. I have trained other pet professionals and customers for the same certification and they have found it an invaluable training program.
Paws n' Critters is licensed, bonded and insured and accredited with the Better Business Bureau for your peace of mind.
All sitters have passed a background/criminal history check.
All sitters have completed their PetTech Certification in Pet CPR & First Aid.
Paws n' Critters strives in providing excellent customer service and loving pet care!

Mimi Moriarty & Rick Asher (with their dog Georgia)Hi, we are Mimi and Rick a married and professional couple. After interviewing Sandy and seeing how well she cared for our chocolate lab Georgia, we wanted to get involved in Paws n' Critters and use our love of animals along with my background in customer service to give the same quality pet sitting service that Sandy had provided to us. We care deeply for animals and we always treat every one in our care as my own personal pet. We have had pets throughout our entire lives and understand that pets are not just animals in our homes, but members of our families. We look forward to caring for your pets and making sure your home is looked after with the best care possible.
Mimi & Rick service the Continental Ranch, Sunflower and Gladden Farm areas in Marana. They also provide semi-private boarding in their home and because you come to them for semi-private boarding they service city-wide.
Heidi PavoneHi! I'm Heidi, a native of Tucson AZ. While growing up, our family always had pets. Dogs, Cats, Bunnies, and Hamsters. As I matured and married (36yrs.) we decided to have a family. I have 3 wonderful children, and as they grew up I wanted them to have a love for animals. So we added pets to our family right from the beginning. I decided, as a young mother to start a daycare for children. I loved and nurtured these children for 12yrs. Our pets where part of their lives as well. As the years went on I found myself drifting from children to the older generation and caring for them as well as their pets. I felt that pets are just like children. We nurture them, teach them, love them, and care for them in their golden years, unconditionally. I know I instilled the love of pets in my children. They have had Dogs, Cats, Horses, Goats, and an array of Birds. This brings a huge amount of joy to me as I now watch my grandchildren learn to give the gift of love to their animals. It's a Circle of Life for me which would have never felt complete without our 4-legged family member's! I look forward to meeting Yours!
Heidi services Saddlebrooke, Catalina and Oro Valley.

Nancy AndrewsHi, My name is Nancy. I was born and raised in New York City and moved to Tucson in 1988. I’ve always had pets growing up and now have three turtles, one bird and one dog, all rescues! I have worked for the past 8 years with special needs students and love my job. I also volunteer with an organization in Tucson that helps people train their dogs to be service dogs. It’s very rewarding to see mostly humane society dogs become a life line for an individual.
I love meeting new people and their pets and I’m excited to be a part of the Paws ‘n Critters Team!

Bridget AndersonHi, I'm Bridget and I live on an acre and a half of desert on the northeast side of Tucson. My husband and I have raised a large family of 8 children (only one left at home) . We enjoyed the numerous pets we've had over the years - including rabbits, dogs, cats, mice, chickens and even ferrets. I feel pets are such a wonderful experience to teach children responsibility, and of course they have provided so many family memories. They filled our family life with warmth and often humor, and sometimes challenges.
I love being active and outside, and enjoy keeping in shape with our Labrador/Australian Shepherd mix "Echo" by taking long walks around our neighborhood in the Tanque Verde Valley.
Raising a large family has given me many different experiences involving reliability in daily tasks, as well as dealing with the unexpected! I'm looking forward to meeting new people and helping out with their beloved pets.
Bridget services the East Side of Tucson.
Rachael PetersonHi, my name is Rachael Peterson. I am a native Tucsonan who has spent the past 3 years in Tulsa, OK teaching elementary school. I recently moved back after becoming engaged to my wonderful fiance, KarI. I will be teaching 4th grade at Desert Christian Elementary School this fall (2017) and look forward to being back in the classroom.
We have one dog, Rocky (pictured above) and I have spent my whole life surrounded by dogs, rabbits, birds, and turtles. We enjoy taking Rocky on walks, watching him play in grass (a rarity in Tucson!), and bringing him on trips to Phoenix to visit his dog cousins.
I am looking forward to meeting and caring for all pets in Central Tucson and near the U of A!
